If 2 pink active pills have been missed in a row during Week 3 of your cycle:
1. If you are a Day 1 Starter, then you must throw away the rest of the Alesse pack and start the new pack that same day.
If you are a Sunday Starter, then you must continue taking 1 pill every day till Sunday. On Sunday you must throw away the rest of the pack and start a new pack of pills.
2. It is possible that you will not have your period this month, but it is expected. But if you do not have your period for two months in a row you must call your doctor as you might be pregnant.
3. You can become pregnant if you have sex in 7 days after you have missed your birth control pills. It is recommended to use back-up birth control methods during these 7 days.
If 3 pink active pills have been missed in a row during the first three weeks of your cycle:
1. If you are a Day 1 Starter, then you must throw away the rest of the Alesse pack and start the new pack that same day.
If you are a Sunday Starter, then you must continue taking 1 pill every day till Sunday. On Sunday you must throw away the rest of the pack and start a new pack of Alesse pills.
2. It is possible that you will not have your period this month, but it is expected. But if you do not have your period for two months in a row you must call your doctor as you might be pregnant.
3. You can become pregnant if you have sex in 7 days after you have missed your birth control pill dosage. It is recommended to use back-up birth control methods during these 7 days.
If light-green (reminder) Alesse pills have been missed during Week 4:
You must throw away the pills that you have missed and continue taking one Alesse pill every day until your Alesse pack is empty. You do not need any back-up birth control methods.
If you are unsure what to do after you have missed Alesse pills, then you must continue taking one Alesse pill every day according to your schedule until you can reach your doctor. You must use a back-up birth control method until you have not consulted your health-care provider.
Possible Side Effects of Alesse
Some women who are taking Alesse pills might have vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can differ from slight spotting to a flow that is almost like your regular menstruation. If this bleeding lasts for more than several days or if you suffer from it for several months in a row then you must consult your doctor. You must continue taking Alesse pills even if you have vaginal bleeding, as usually it is not harmful to your health. This bleeding must stop after your body gets used to Alesse birth control pills.
